After the huge success of Zara and the recent opening of Mango – yet another Spanish retailer hits New York. Desigual, a growing success in Europe, looks to be testing the waters for further expansion. Colorful offerings, highly embellished looks and just a tad ‘folkloric’ in appeal (crossed with a vibrant bright 80’s ‘pop’ inspired palette), Desigual has a very distinct look. Will it fly? I’m not so sure! But judging by the success of Zara – these Spanish retailers have a knack for offering up – and developing product – that sells!
